ANTONIO CASTILLO FORESTS
Antonio Castillo is a painter who comes from the jungle, the last limits of the territory of Guyana, El Pauj, in the limits of Brazil. Allconstruyl same home, his work as a painter, his conuco, in part, his life, his family, his world. Comes, also, the dynasty of the Castillo, Jorge, Carlos, and the young artists who followed them. Now Antonio came to Caracas for their children to school. It came with the desire to show his paintings, not to know where. So is, Meanwhile, between Caracas and the jungle. Perhaps imagination is still in its forest.
With so much passion and naturalist selvtica like yours, his painting tour, of course, on the theme of the forest and other natural landscapes of the region.
The best way to see the forest and empathize with her is, for Castillo, the painting. Is to live it travs of the painting, where paint is almost one sheet and tree after tree, until the forest is preserved. Or that the light is lost in the forest.
While we celebrate and exalt the beauty of the show selvtico, however, the landscapes of Antonio Castillo not intended to be hiperblicos. There are landscapes romantics, are not excessive nor expressionist. His way of expressing and exalt the fascination that feels about the jungle is to describe it lovingly in his paintings.
In its visual aprehensin need, the reality of the forest lies the analog to noted between these paintings and drawings by Castillo, and naturalistic works of European artists of the last century travelers in Venezuela.
There are impressions or interpretations, or visions, or sensations of the jungle. It is a mixture of what the artist sees and what he knows of the jungle. The truth, the plausibility ms (more than the apparently true) of these views comes from the closeness and the compenetracin the artist and nature.
In allsurge the empathy, the feeling of belonging (not that the earth belongs, but rather, that he belongs to nature, part of it, live it and in it), and attitude preservacin defense and the nature, environmental awareness. So in his works the presence of savanna reminds us that the jungle is not permanent.
It is difficult to find sb place where nature is revealed with greater splendor and fullness in the landscape of the Gran Sabana. This is what attempt to express the paintings and drawings of Antonio Castillo.
